Fun in the sun

The sunset was on Merricks birthday, and the park shots were from this week. It has been so warm! We almost hit 60 degrees up here! We were loving our day at the park though, the snow will come soon enough.

More birthday

We had a birthday lunch at MiCasa over the weekend and it was probably Merricks best meal out. She insisted on wearing the cowboy hat, and both Yoda and Chewbacca hats make regular appearances.

We tried to do a photo session when we were in Michigan a month ago, we weren't very successful. This was the cutest shot, she pretty much cried the whole time, and we couldn't get her to smile. Maybe next time we won't be so tired or at the end of our trip. She eventually knocked down and threw the "2". That would have been an awesome shot! The twos at their finest! We had a great birthday weekend, I think we are going to let Christmas kind of slide right by..

Two!!

Her present to me this morning, going potty, all by herself! I didn't get many pictures, the dynamic duo was in rare form. Merrick and Reid are such special friends!! They are so fun to watch.

She will be two tomorrow, but I couldn't wait!

I gave Merrick her kitchen early, and she loves it. We are having some of her friends over for pizza after naps, and I managed to save a couple of presents for after cupcakes!

Warm November

We went down the hill to Denver last weekend and spent some time with Grandpa and Grandma Neerhof, and even saw GG. (Great Grandma) Lots of books were read, and Merrick made muffins with Grandma Cherie. Mare Bear gave everyone a muffin, but took a bite out of each one first. She moved up to the two year old room early, and it has been a bit of a hard adjustment. She gets so attached to her teachers. Reid will move up in a couple of weeks, so that will make it easier, but there are more girls in the new room and they give each other hugs all the time, it is really cute. School is so good for her, she loves the interaction with all the kids, she gets bored with us!

Yoda, I mean, Chewbacca.

This all started with a commercial on Cartoon network, Merrick saw Yoda and loved him. So, we then show her the non-scary version (no Darth Vader) of Empire Strikes Back with all the Yoda parts, and our new favorite Chewbacca. This is all we have been hearing about anytime she hears the word Halloween. "Yo-yo! Baaky!" Then this turns to "Bacca" Then every once in a while "Yo-yo" slips back in. So, what does Mom do?! Buy both. Chewy arrived on Thursday, she wouldn't wear it to school on Friday, she was feeling Yoda. I pick her up and she is wearing Chewbacca. How thrilled am I though?! I was Chewy when I was really little too!! (If only I had a picture of that!) By the way, we have avoided candy for almost two years, except for a couple of m-n-m's here and there, then Marty gives her a Hershey kiss and she is all over it. Maybe she will eat cake this year for her birthday.

Rosie

Merrick really missed her Daddy while we were away, so on Sunday we had a really fun family day together. She even went on her first pony ride. She wasn't so sure she wanted to get on Rosie, but then she won her over.

Back home.

A stroller ride for Foxy, he must have needed a lift after the long trip. Saturday we met up with Reid and his Mom at the park, and enjoyed the mild weather.

Tough goodbyes...

Poor Merrick, saying goodbye was a little tough, now when we mention Papa and Grandma Jo, or Grandma K and Jaja, she says "bye-bye." Hoping for a longer visit next time!

Detroit Zoo

The butterfly pavillion was a huge hit, and then we saw the polar bears and the tunnel you could walk through. They swam and played right over your head.

The cousins, Shae and Brady, all the siblings with Mom, super fun, and rare to all be together. Finally a photo with Aunt Julie!

Michigan quick trip

We are busy unpacking after a short trip to Michigan. We had SO much Fun! We think we need to do it more often. (Frequent flyer miles anyone need to get rid of?!) We were with Grandma K and JaJa, Uncle Josh came by for our trip to the Detroit zoo, Uncle Matt and Aunt Julie, cousins Shae and Brady drove down and surprised us, THEN, Papa and Grandma Corcoran came down and spent a night with us. Phew!! We are beat! She has been talking about everyone since we got back and keeps pointing at everyones pictures. We only took 141 pics, I'll try to post more. Thanks everyone!! Can't wait to come back!

My girl

The girls went on a long hike yesterday, checked out the river, saw Foxy being fed hotdogs by some irresponsible lady, and got to wear our puffy coats. (Sorry for the guacamole on Mare bears face..)

Downtown park

We had an awesome weekend. We went to the pool yesterday, hit the park, and woke up to snow this morning. I think the cold temps are here to stay.

I love my toothpaste.

This was the best photo I could get from her this morning. She likes to smell the toothbrush before she brushes her teeth. (fruity!) We start swim lessons in two weeks (Beginner starfish)
so we are really excited for that. The weather is so nice right now, we are trying to do as much as possible before we are stuck inside on really cold days. The indoor pool should be fun, and by summer she will be an awesome little swimmer!
